Please look below for answers to questions that we are frequently asked!
Do you take walk-ins?
Our office is not able to take walk-in appointments. Unfortunately, our attorneys are often in and out of the office going to court and client meetings and we can’t be sure that someone will be available to help you. Additionally, we need to make sure that we have not previously represented or spoken to someone else regarding the matter you would like to discuss with us before we can meet with you. Please call us or message us through this website to schedule a consultation today!
What should I expect in a consultation?
In your phone consultation, an attorney will speak with you about the facts of your case, analyze the situation, and communicate your options and how we would recommend you proceed. Most phone consultations last about thirty minutes. We will begin crafting a strategy to accomplish you goals during the phone consultation but, at this stage, we will not be able to give you definite legal advice because we will not have reviewed evidence or documents relating to your case. We will begin review of documents when you come in for your initial client meeting.
Where is your office located?
We have two offices, one in St. Charles and another in Crystal City. Our St. Charles office is on historic Main Street in St. Charles. We are located near the intersection of Boonslick Rd. and Main Street by the Trailhead brewery. When you enter the building, you will be able to find us on the second floor. Our Jefferson County office is located on North Truman Blvd. in Crystal City.
Where should I park at your office?
When you visit our St. Charles office, you can park in the gated lot behind the building or on the street in front of the building. If you choose to park in our lot, simply approach the gate which will raise automatically to let you in, and then we will give you a code to use to exit the lot after your meeting.
How often will I be able to speak with my attorney?
Our office maintains a client communication and case management website called MyCase that is available 24/7. This is often the easiest way to get in contact with our office because we are often in and out of court and client meetings during the day but we can usually respond to messages between meetings or during down time at court. We are also available via phone and for in-person meetings (including after hours or weekend meetings where necessary).
Can you tell me what the outcome of my case will be?
The short answer is no! In our consultations and as a case with our office progresses, we will always be upfront with you. We believe that it is in everyone’s best interest to tell them the truth. If we think you have a good case or a terrible case, we will tell you. If something changes in the middle of your case that changes how we feel about it, we will let you know. That being said, we cannot promise or guarantee the outcome of a case.
How much will my case cost?
We handle most cases on an hourly basis. That means your cost will vary based on the type of case, how contested the case is, and your needs. One of the biggest factors in a client’s overall bill is the amount of communication that the client wants. If we communicate daily, there will obviously be more hourly work and therefore cost involved in a case.
Do you take cases on a contingency fee or percentage basis?
With very few exceptions, no.
Do you offer payment plans?
In most cases, we do offer payment plans based on income, case type and complexity, and average monthly bill. We generally will not offer a payment plan until a few months into a case so that we can get to know you and your case.
Do you accept legal insurance?
All of the attorneys at Flesner Wentzel are members of ARAG Legal Insurance and provide “in plan” services for members. The types of cases that we accept through ARAG include divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, estate planning, probate, bankruptcy and traffic tickets. Some covered matters by ARAG provide pay-in-full coverage for attorney’s fees, while others provide a certain number of free hours during the matter, and other types of matters are eligible for a discount. If you are an ARAG member you are entitled to a discount on any of our services.
We also accept cases through Legal Shield Insurance and their members are entitled to a discount through us.
What if I want to talk to you about a type of case that isn’t listed on your website?
It would be impossible for this website to mention every type of case that our firm has handled. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your matter. If your case is something that we don’t regularly handle, we can usually refer you to an experienced lawyer who we’ve worked with before. We want to make sure you have a good experience, even if we aren’t the best person to handle the job!
